Panamanian President Martín Torrijos Espino, credited with leading his country's electorate to approve a $5.25 billion public bond measure to pay for more than doubling the existing capacity of the Panama Canal by 2014, will give the keynote address during a luncheon in his honor on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the American Association of Port Authorities' (AAPA) Annual Convention in Norfolk (www.portofvirginia.com/AAPAwebsite/aapa_main.html).
Prior to his address on the Panama Canal expansion project and the impacts it will have on world trade, AAPA will present Pres. Torrijos with its prestigious "Port Person of the Year" award.
