RPQ No.: 2017-035.02A – North Cruise Boulevard Extension - Phase 2A - FPL Vaults Relocation - ESTIMATED COST: $357,555.00

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: General Building Contractor, Building Contractor


The Contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, services, supervision, tools, equipment, and all other items necessary for the general construction for the relocation of two (2) Florida Power & Light (FPL) vaults, located at Miami-Dade County Seaport Department. The work is comprised of, but not limited to, installation of new FPL transformer pad and equipment, including necessary pavement demolition and disposal; electrical connections from the new transformer location to existing facilities; demolition of existing buildings, slabs, foundations and utilities at each FPL vault; pavement restoration of areas after demolition of vaults; cutting and capping of existing utilities servicing vaults; and any ancillary work necessary to complete the project.

The Contractor must meet the below requirements:

  • Contractor (Prime or Subcontractor) performing the Work of this Project shall have a minimum experience of at least two (2) project of similar scope and size during the past ten (10) years, where one (1) of the projects was completed within the past three (3) years.


  • Contractor (Prime or Subcontractor) shall be familiar with the installation of Florida Power and Light (FPL) electrical ductbanks. Project examples of a similar scope and size may include construction of power system, pour foundations, and telecommunication systems.


  • The experience must be demonstrated by the individual of the Contractor (Prime or Subcontractor) that will have direct or substantial involvement in the supervisory capacity at the Project Manager level or above. As a condition of award, the selected Contractor (Prime or Subcontractor) shall submit each individual’s name, list of past projects, contact information, and references.


  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Subcontractors must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the installation of HDD and have completed a minimum of three (3) projects of similar scope and same size diameter or larger during the past five (5) years, where one (1) of the projects was completed within the past three (3) years. A reference must be provided for each project. In addition, a list of all the projects that the HDD Subcontractor has participated in over the past five (5) years must be provided. Project examples of a similar scope and same size may include the installation of underground electrical distribution systems with multiple conduits as long as they meet the minimum diameter requirement.

Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Contract Measures Requirements:

  • SBE Cons Goal = 21.71%
