AAPA Congratulates FY 2019 Port Security Grant Awardees

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) … the unified and recognized voice of America’s seaports … is lauding the ports and other entities who will receive grant funding in the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) FY 2019 Port Security Grant Program, which the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today.

“AAPA is pleased to learn that the DHS has just announced the FY 2019 Port Security Grant awardees.  Congratulations to those AAPA member ports and their partners for the grants they will receive,” said Susan Monteverde, AAPA’s vice president of government relations. “The Port Security Grant Program continues to be very valuable for U.S. ports, which serve as partners with the DHS to harden security and protect our borders and homeland. Ensuring continued funding for these important preparedness grants continues to be a high priority for AAPA."

The Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) provides grants for transportation infrastructure security activities to implement Area Maritime Transportation Security Plans (AMSPs) and facility security plans among port authorities, facility operators, and state and local government agencies required to provide port security services.  The purpose of the FY 2019 PSGP is to competitively award grant funding to support increased port-wide risk management; enhance domain awareness; conduct training and exercises; expand port recovery and resiliency capabilities; further capabilities to prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from attacks involving improvised explosive devices and other non-conventional weapons.
