EPA’s President, Francisco Javier González, highlighted the importance of this Congress, which is going to be held in the XV Region from November 30th to December 3rd and will provide the chance to debate new industry challenges.

The Congress, which will take place under the motto “Sustainability and Port Development in Latin America”, has a high-level academic agenda with over 40 remarkable speakers from 25 leading countries in the port industry that will discuss challenges and new port projects to ensure competitiveness and efficiency.

In that regard, González commented, “The academic program will be extremely appealing; we have strived to make it compelling, where different topics about the future of the port industry will be addressed. And, undoubtedly, sustainability is a topic that fully identifies with the Port of Arica, since we have been recognized for our work done to safeguard the environment and this event will be key to further progress in this area. "

So far over 250 port executives, presidents and port managers from all over the world have confirmed their presence for this year’s Congress; in addition, 74 port companies will present main industry developments.

Already confirmed are all Chilean ports and international ports such as Miami, Long Beach, Corpus Christi, Buenos Aires, Bahía Blanca and terminals from Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay among others.

“We have high expectations for this year’s Congress, for which we have confirmed the presence of the Minister of Transportation, Andrés Gómez Lobo, and the Minister of Public Works, Alberto Undurraga, who will address topics that are of great interest to our country’s port industry, " added González.

The AAPA Congress is the biggest event held in Arica since the 1962 FIFA World Cup and will generate a significant commercial and economic impact on the region.
