AAPA Hosts 40 Plus Ports in Boston for Technology, Operations and Security Seminar

Washington, D.C. — Today, the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) wrapped up its 2023 Smart Ports Seminar and Expo at the Revere Hotel Boston Common, where more than 40 ports from across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America were represented.

Smart Ports brought public and private sector maritime leaders together in Boston to discuss the latest industry trends and insights. AAPA's Security, Facilities Engineering, and Information Technology Committees also met in person to conduct association business.

"Seaports are dynamic economic engines of commerce that deliver the goods, materials, and energy that make our modern lives possible," stated AAPA President and CEO Chris Connor. "To sum up our last few days, strong ports mean a strong America and we are united as an industry to constantly identifying and improving our technology, security, and operations through collaborative events like Smart Ports."

“I would like to congratulate AAPA CEO Chris Connor and the entire AAPA organization on a successful Smart Ports Conference, hosted in the great City of Boston,” said Massport Port Director Joseph Morris. “Boston has a rich history of leadership in the maritime sector. It has been a productive three days welcoming port and industry executives from all over the world to Boston to discuss the future of port and terminal operations with a focus on sustainability, cybersecurity and innovation.”
