Port of New Orleans " Julia Street Cruise Terminal"

The project is the Port of New Orlean's newly expanded and completely renovated Julia Street Cruise Terminal. This $20.5 million project is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River in downtown New Orleans.  The project included combining two smaller, contiguous cruise terminals into one larger, more efficient terminal to accommodate the mega cruise ships in operation today. The project features 107,108 square feet of terminal including embarkation deck, luggage room and Customs and Border Protection space, a raised, climatized and articulating passenger gangway, and a 1,300 linear foot berth with a draft of 35 feet designed for handling cruise ships of up to 4,500 passengers. The terminal reaches its objectives through features such as dual escalators, dual elevators, an indoor, climatized walkway to the secured areas of the terminal and covered drop off areas to protect the passengers on arrival and departure. Since it began operations in November 2011, the terminal has handled over a quarter of a million passenger movements for Royal Caribbean Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line.
