2006 Facilities Engineering Award Winners

The AAPA Facilities Engineering Awards recognize outstanding results in completed engineering projects conducted at public port authorities.  The Facilities Engineering award program has been developed over the past four years by AAPA’s Facilities Engineering Committee.  The goal of the program is to recognize excellence, innovation, and performance by port engineering professionals.

Submissions cover a wide range of impacts that port authority projects have—not only to the immediate port community, but to the constituent community served by the port.  A four-judge panel this year selected the Port of Los Angeles for its Seismic Engineering Program, which is the first of kind in the country to develop engineering criteria and guidelines for container wharves.
